Day One:
Following on from your spectacular train ride from London to Scotland, passing through York, Durham and Newcastle and then hugs the coastline before arriving in Edinburgh, there will be plenty of time to visit Edinburgh Castle in the afternoon. We've also included a city sightseeing hop on and off pass so you can find your way around and get to know the charming city.
Day two:Loch Lomond, The Trossachs & Stirling Castle
The tour takes us to Glasgow for a short Panoramic Tour of the City. This is Scotland's largest city. You will see landmarks such as the Cathedral, George Square and the University. After crossing the River Clyde and a short drive we arrive at Loch Lomond where you will have the opportunity to take photographs and view the Loch and beautiful scenery.
At the village of Balloch on the banks of Loch Lomond you will be able to take an optional Boat Cruise or wander round the village before heading for the wonderful picturesque village of Aberfoyle and your lunch stop. Aberfoyle is the gateway to The Trossachs. After lunch we continue on our journey through this beautiful area with stops for photographs of the Lochs and Glens. This is the home of Rob Roy MacGregor, one of Scotland's most famous characters, you will also hear stories about William Wallace, immortalised in the film "Braveheart".
Our last stop of the day is at Stirling Castle. Here you will have the opportunity to visit or just admire the scenery from the esplanade. Stirling Castle is famous for it's connections with William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, Mary Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie. On our way home our coach passes Linlithgow Palace the Birth place of Mary Queen of Scots. When we arrive in Edinburgh the tour ends at Waverley Bridge.
Day 3:
The day is free to explore Edinburgh independently. There are plenty of suggestions for what to do in Edinburgh. The top 5 sights include:
- National Portrait Gallery. Designed in 1890 in flamboyant Gothic Style, it contains portraits of famous Scots like Robert Burns and Mary Queen of Scots.
- Charlotte Square. Designed in 1791 this is considered to be the finest square in the city.
- High Kirk of St Giles. The Cathedral of the Church of Scotland.
- Carlton Hill. This volcanic outcrop crowned with monuments, has panoramic views of the city, Holyrood Palace and the Firth of Forth.
- Museum of Scotland. An outstanding new museum, built in 1998, recounting Scotland’s history
