Check into your 5 Star Hotel situated in central London. On this 4 day package of London, enjoy a Vintage London Tour on a 1950’s Routemaster bus, a day trip visiting Stonehenge and Bath and then the highlight of your trip, a visit to Highclere Castle where Downton Abbey was filmed.
Join us for a long weekend, checking into the Grange City hotel for four nights on the Thursday. Breakfast is also included in your stay. The rest of the day one is at your leisure.
On Friday morning (day 2) you will be collected from your hotel before enjoying a three hour tour of London's highlights featuring some of the city's most famous landmarks including Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London. During the morning you will also enjoy a short river cruise and have the chance to watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace. The afternoon and evening is independent time for you to enjoy London at your own pace.
On the Saturday we head for the 5000 years old Stonehenge, recently re-opened with a new visitor centre . We take the short trip to Bath, famous for its 2000 year old Roman Baths. Both these World Heritage sites are included in the tour.
Sunday is the highlight of your stay. After being collected from your hotel we head to the University town of Oxford where we enjoy a walking tour of this beautiful town. Then we travel to the village of to Bampton where many of the outdoor shots were taken in the Downton Abbey film series. Finally we arrive at Highclere Castle Built by Sir Charles Berry who also built the houses of Parliament, this is the countryseat of the Earls of Carnarvon. The tour of the Castle’s public rooms includes the magnificent public main hall, the library and sitting rooms in addition to other rooms featured in Downton Abbey.
Why not spend some time enjoying the enjoying the parklands created by Lancelot “Capability” Brown who also designed the grounds of Blenheim Palace or indulge yourself with tea and cake at one of the tea rooms once you have finished touring the Castle. A signed copy of Lady Carnarvon autobiography will also be given to every customer on the tour. It makes for fascinating reading and is a unique souvenir to remember the day!!
Departing Highclere Castle we head back to London and arrive back at approximately 7pm.
